April wildlife sightings fromand other news from Hebridean Whale Cruises.
Sunny Skies and Quiet Seas
29th April 2007
The weather has been excellent. Perfect for the Easter holiday period. But unfortunately cetaceans have been difficult to find and there has not been a lot to write about this month.
We normally expect to see the first Minke Whales turning up in April but even though we have had superb weather and good sea conditions we've not found one.
Harbour Porpoises have been showing in ones and twos offshore. The first inshore sighting was not until the 25th.
The first Puffin sighting was on the 6th. These birds have been returning from a winter in the mid-Atlantic, home to nest in their thousands on the Shiants.
